Friday, March 7, 2014 – Noon until 1:30
Bill Warner, founder of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, sends a special invitation each year to some 50 owners of classic automobiles to take part in an annual “Passport Transport Eight Flags Road Tour.” Shortly before noon vehicles will arrive in the historic downtown and be on display between Front and 6th Street until 1:30 in the afternoon.
According to Marianna McIntyre, island liaison, Warner selects a diverse group of vehicles for this event. “Downtown restauranteurs have graciously offered free meals for participating drivers so even more money can be distributed to northeast Florida non-profits.” Two local non-profits benefiting from this year’s Concours d’Elegance are Micah’s Place, and Fernandina and Nassau County’s Shop with Cops program.

Bill Warner is not only the talented originator and organizer of the Concours d’Elegance, but has a big, big heart! From the beginning, this event has donated tremendous amounts of money to many non-profits. Last year, over 2.2 million dollars was raised for Community Hospice, Spina Bifida, Shop with Cops, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and many more charities on the First Coast. The Friday event displaying cars in downtown Fernandina Beach, is a way to get to see some of the cars here for the big show FREE! A few paid staffers and over 700 volunteers make Concours d’Elegance a great event that includes the whole community and Bill Warner is a great man for starting it all!
