Florida Pro-Family Leader John Stemberger endorses Adkins for Nassau Superintendent of Schools

Media Release
August 3, 2016 1:00 p.m.

Florida Family ActionJohn Stemberger, President of Florida Family Action, announced
his endorsement of Janet Adkins for Nassau County Superintendent of Schools.

Stemberger issued the following statement:

“Janet Adkins is a proven and bold leader in defending parent’s rights, protecting our children, and fighting for quality educational choices—including school choice and charter schools. Janet has shown no-nonsense leadership in pushing back against
and rebuking President Obama for his abusive bathroom mandate. Simply put, we can trust our children with Janet Adkins.

In contrast, her opponent Kathy Knight Burns is an 18-year entrenched politician who has close ties with left-leaning teachers’ unions. She will continue to provide Nassau County with the same leftist social engineering that it has seen from her for
the last two decades. Regardless of her affiliation with the Republican party, it is clear she will not fight for the conservative values of Nassau County voters.

Janet Adkins has an A+ Rating on Florida Family Action’s legislative scorecard. She will be recognized as a “Champion of the Family” at our upcoming Annual Policy Awards Dinner with Dr. Ben Carson on August 27. We are very proud to endorse Janet
and recommend her as the true conservative and the education reformer running for the Nassau County Superintendent of Schools.”

These Creations Just can’t get out of the Bathrooms. School Choice, Charter Schools to replace, Public Schools, why? much more Dark Money in Charter Schools. Hay’s Style Committee to Censor Curriculum, why heck, who needs real Teachers? Who’s the Career Politician.? I think Janet just did Dr. Burns another huge favor. That is for anybody who’s paying attention.

Steve – you should ask Burns why she took $19,000 from 19 political committees and other special interests tied to the senate? So can you name three accomplishments that Burns has solved in the last 17 yrs? Does it matter she has never taught high school, middle school or been an administrator? Does it matter she is a 4th grade teacher who does not teach in Florida? Does it matter she is passing up qualified principals for the #3 post at the school district to bring in less qualified people from Camden? Have you looked at the math crisis powerpoint at http://www.janetadkins.com? Does it matter that 70% of students at West Nassau failed algebra? Does it matter she approved overspending on school construction at Wildlight beyond what state law allows? Are you troubled that while she was a candidate her campaign donors also got big payouts during the same time period? Are you OK with no bid contracts? Have you reviewed Janet’s plan at http://www.janetadkins.com and compared it to the “Burns Plan”?

Really? Does an endorsement have to be a putdown of your opponent Janet? I guess her qualifications can’t pull her to a win so she has to perform her dirty politics again!

Every Janet Adkins letter to the editor in the News Leader and every endorsement makes the point that she is a conservative and Kathy Burns is a liberal. In this endorsement, Stemberger refers to the left-leaning teachers union. My biggest concern about this election is that a candidate believes that the future of Nassau County schools is a battle of ideologies. The ONLY thing that matters is the quality of our children’s education. I expect educators to leave their ideology, whatever it is, at home. For a candidate for superintendent to constantly raise ideology suggests she cannot do that.
