The Fernandina Observer will host a city commission candidate forum this Monday at City Hall.

Former Fernandina Mayor Robin  Cocchi Lentz will be the moderator for the event.

Vice Mayor David Sturges announced he will not participate. The decision was made the same day The Observer published a story about a dark money Political Action Committee smear campaign against his opponent Genece Minshew.

Commissioner Darron Ayscue, a candidate for mayor, is working and cannot participate.   Minshew, who is running for Seat 2, because of a prior scheduling conflict will participate by Zoom.

The issues scheduled to be discussed are:

-              Development and density in our town

-              The bioethanol proposal

-              When the public can speak at meetings

-         Stormwater infrastructure improvements

-              Important projects on the city’s agenda

-              Balancing tourism and small-town charm

-              The candidates' personal vision for Fernandina Beach
