War Story at the History Museum

The Duncan Lamont Clinch Historical Society will gather at the Amelia Island Museum of History on Monday, July 10, at 7:00 p.m. Guest speaker John McClane III will tell his father’s story of serving as a B-24 Air Force navigator in 31 combat missions over Germany and France. His father’s story captures what life was like for young men growing up fast during the war years. The meeting is open to the public.

Went out to the City airport about 12 years or so ago when the only flying B-24 left in the world stopped in for a display. What a tough and beautiful airplane! When they fired up those big recip engines it brought a big smile to my face.

Those missions they flew over the heavily defended Ploesti oil fields were brutal……so many heroes from that war……so many soldiers and airmen who never came home.
