The Class of 2020.

The U.S. Constitution Scholarship Foundation (USCSF) announced record enrollment of 95 Nassau County high school students in their University of US after school education program for 2019-20. Now in it’s 4th year, the free program includes classes on the Constitution, our Founding Fathers, American Heritage and Supreme Court Decisions. The program is delivered by an impressive faculty of guest lecturers who volunteer their time, including, Judge Adrian Soud, Karin Lips, President of the Network of Enlightened Women, Representative Cord Byrd, Constitutional scholar Dr. John Baker, University of North Carolina Constitutional Law Professor David Ardia, and Dr. Sharon Foster.

Katie Wehrung, 11th grade, Faith Christian Academy works on the first project with Stone Dinwiddie, 9th grade, HMSHS

The program is also the pathway to application for a minimum of five $5000 USCSF Scholarships each year. Since the inception of the program in 2017, the Foundation has awarded over $65,000 to Nassau County students. Although the University of US is open to all Nassau high school students, only Juniors and Seniors who have maintained a “B” average in school, completed the University of US seminars, passed the final exam, and written a qualified essay on an assigned topic, are eligible for the scholarship competition.

2020 Scholarship winners will be announced at the Annual University of US Graduation and family dinner in April. The USCSF will also host the Second Annual Constitution Bowl Event on March 31, 2020 at West Nassau High School, home of the 2019 winning team. Student teams representing all Nassau County high schools, Faith Christian Academy, and home school students will compete for $1000 scholarships based on their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and key Supreme Court decisions.
