“A few early priorities: people who would like to write about schools, churches, the arts, businesses – and Yulee. And people with a flair for marketing who can help businesses with well crafted, carefully targeted ads across all media. If any of those sound like you, I’d like to talk to you.”

We are almost done reorganizing as a nonprofit, and soon we’ll move from an all-volunteer news organization to one that pays freelance fees to writers and photographers and commissions to advertising sales representatives. The only volunteer will be Mike Phillips, the incoming editor.

Until now, our news focus has generally been city and county offices, the port, local environmental issues, elections and public safety. We accept press releases from community organizations and government agencies. All that will continue. We accept advertising but don’t solicit it or show businesses new ways to market themselves. That will change.

What’s often missing are some of the most important parts of a community: schools, churches, businesses, the arts, sports of all sorts, clubs, professional organizations, organizations that help people in need. We need to add Yulee to the list of places we pay serious attention to. We have relationships with several superb landscape photographers, but a few more would help us celebrate this beautiful place every day. So we have a lot of work to do, and we need more people to help us do it.

A few early priorities: people who would like to write about schools, churches, the arts, businesses – and Yulee. And people with a flair for marketing who can help businesses with well crafted, carefully targeted ads across all media. If any of those sound like you, I’d like to talk to you.  You can call or text me at 904-568-1194 – or, email me at [email protected]
