Songs Inspired by Books

Aidan Quinn and Christine Stay

Whether at home or on the road, singer/songwriters Aidan Quinn and Christine Stay love to read. Not only do they read a lot, this husband and wife team of traveling troubadours write songs inspired by the books they’ve read and the people they meet. They tour and perform as “Friction Farm,” though “Fiction Farm” may have been more suitable.

Their latest CD, “So Many Stars,” was inspired by travels across the country witnessing the collision of strong political polarity with personal kindness, the intersection of fragility and breathtaking beauty.  Other albums, like “I Read Your Book” and “Tell Me a Story,” help promote a love of reading and promote literacy among children.

Friction Farm’s lyrically rich, harmony-driven songs have earned them spots as Kerrville New Folk Finalists and Falcon Ridge Emerging Artists. They are winners of the South Florida Folk Festival songwriter competition, and have performed as official showcase artists at Regional Folk Alliance Conferences. Friction Farm feels at home on the road and on stage. Audiences lean into their stories, laugh at their humor, are inspired to do a little good in the world, and sing along once in a while.

They combine storytelling, social commentary and humor to create songs of everyday life, local heroes, and quirky observations. From ballads to anthems, each song is filled with harmony and hope.

Friction Farm will perform at Story & Song Bookstore Bistro on Saturday, March 14th at 7:30 pm. $20 tickets may be purchased in advance at the bookstore or by calling 904-601-2118.

I heard Friction Farm when in NC and strongly recommend using the opportunity to hear them here on Amelia Island at Story & Song on Sat. 3/14/20.

I will be there this Sat. night to hear them again.
