JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – June 1, 2017 — Rayonier Advanced Materials Inc. (NYSE: RYAM) announced today that it awarded $60,000 in scholarships to six local high school students through its annual program to bolster education opportunities for future engineers.

2017 RYAM Scholarship Awardees:

Tyson Calvert – Fernandina Beach High School; University of Florida
Lauren Kilburn – Fernandina Beach High School; University of Florida or Georgia Tech Matthew Brown – Fernandina Beach High School; University of Central Florida Stephen Youmans – Brantley County High School; Georgia Tech
Jacob Sapp – Wayne County High School; Georgia Southern University
Kyle Chapman – Brantley County High School; University of Georgia

“We’d like to congratulate all six scholarship winners,” said Jay Posze, senior vice president of human resources at RYAM. “As a company, we want to build relationships with talented young people. And as parents, neighbors and members of the communities we serve, we want local kids to not only obtain good degrees but also to find opportunities when they return home. That’s what this scholarship is all about.”

The RYAM Scholarship is unique; not only does it contribute $10,000 toward recipients’ four year degrees, it also offers a paid internship to scholarship winners as rising juniors. Eligible applicants must be seniors and attend high school within 45 miles of either RYAM’s Jesup or Fernandina Beach plant. In addition, applicants must have plans to enroll in an engineering program at approved regional universities.

“We hope the number of applicants continues to grow,” said Posze. “The RYAM Scholarship is a community investment. We want to spread the word so young people around our facilities in Jesup and Fernandina Beach can take advantage of it.”
