Gene Alley Enlarged CroppedEugene Edward Alley, a write in candidate for a seat on the Nassau Board of County Commissioners informed the Fernandina Observer that he will not actively campaign for the position.  Alley said he is undergoing treatment for cancer and “simply does not have the strength at this time to actively campaign.”

Alley stressed that voters will still be able to vote for him as a write in candidate because he is not withdrawing from the race.  “I am humbled and appreciative of the support I have received since announcing my candidacy and grateful for the  support that continues during my treatment,” says Alley.

Alley is challenging incumbent Steve Kelley in the November election. Early voting begins October 21.

Gene Alley is experienced in the marine industry and is informed on port expansion issues. Kelly has remained silent throughout community discussion of this important matter – as well as on any other issue. Time for a write in vote here. Gene Alley.
