republicanThe end of last month was the first inaugural meeting of the Nassau Next Generation Republican Club. The club was chartered by the Republican Executive Committee to
create engagement of teenagers and young adults in local government.

The inaugural speaker for the club at the first meeting, which was held at Junior’s Seafood in Yulee, was Nassau County Clerk of Court John Crawford. Clerk Crawford
spoke to the filled room about the fiscal state of Nassau County. The Clerk gave a presentation, and stated that “based on the reaffirmed Fitch credit rating of A+,
the strongest safety reserves position and highest total recurring annual revenue in the county’s history, Nassau County is very fiscally strong and can be debt-free within 16 years. While the operational budget has been structurally balanced using all available revenues, the primary weaknesses, presently, appear to be the failure to address expenditures growing faster than revenue growth and failure to adopt a formal annual capital accrual plan to adequately address future capital projects.”

The next regular meeting of the Next Generation Club will be on February 25th at Junior’s Seafood in Yulee at 7PM, and will feature Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper to discuss the role of the Sheriff’s office, and to field questions about the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office. Questions or comments can be submitted at 904-576-8390, or through their online facebook page.
