New business & building report: August 2017

The Fernandina Observer welcomes the following businesses newly licensed – or relicensed — to operate in our city last month:

During August 2017, the city surveyed 396 permits, an increase from 336 over August 2016. This brought the city $274,643 in fees. Permits were issued for 15 new residential buildings and a construction trailer. Five demolition permits were issued. Electrical permits (78), mechanical (60), and roofing (55) accounted for the highest number by category.

The year-to-date permit total is 2,738, compared to 2,394 for the comparable period last year with new commercial and residential construction permits up to 138 from 101 at this time in 2016.
