Vicki Cannon, Nassau County Supervisor of Elections

Around February of each year the Nassau County Supervisor of Elections’ Office notifies the public, through our website and a press release, of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE) Scholarship opportunities. These scholarships are available for Florida students, who are pursuing a degree in Political Science, Journalism, Mass Communications, or Public or Business Administration.

Every year, one applicant from Nassau County is chosen as a finalist and forwarded to the FSASE Scholarship Committee to represent Nassau County. The FSASE Scholarship Committee then selects three winners from among the finalists submitted by the Supervisors of Elections throughout the State of Florida. Each of the three winners are awarded a $1,200 scholarship.

We’re very pleased to announce that Nassau County’s finalist, Samantha Talmon, was chosen as one of the scholarship recipients! Upon being notified that she won a scholarship, Samantha provided the following:

“Hello, my name is Samantha Talmon and I am a junior at Florida Atlantic University studying health administration. I am incredibly grateful to be the first Nassau county recipient of the FSASE scholarship. This scholarship has provided me with a stepping stone leading to my success and I appreciate it immensely. I consider myself very blessed to have received this, and can proudly say that because of this scholarship I will not have to take out a loan for my senior year at Florida Atlantic.”

Congratulations Samantha, and best wishes as you pursue your degree! If you wish to learn more about future FSASE Scholarship opportunities, please check our website at www.VoteNassau.com early next year, or feel free to contact our office at 904.491.7500.
