This is considered to be THE most important election for the future of the downtown area. The Port Authority is county-wide, and has a major presence downtown.

Come ask questions of these two candidates. Bob Sturgess is a candidate in  OHPA District 1, and Jimmy Dubberly in OHPA District 2.

As a participant in the meet and greet on Thursday, July 13th, I found the event overall to be incredibly disappointing. James Dubberly misinformed participants that drinks were complimentary for the event, resulting in many individuals getting an unexpected drink tab at the end of the night. James Dubberly and his campaign manager, in full knowledge that drinks were not complimentary to the event, walked out of the restaurant before paying for their hefty drink tab. My sincere sympathy to the Patio Place. This occurrence is not the type of behavior we want to have perpetuated by a candidate or any individual in the downtown area.

As the owner of The Patio Place I want to thanks Chuck Hall and the candidates for the opportunity to host this event. It is a big part of my business plan to be involved with the community as much as possible…. and providing space for events such as this will help me achieve my business and personal goals.

My sincere apologies Karl for the misunderstanding regarding the event. All advertisements did indeed speak to there being complimentary food. And we do offer complimentary flavored water every day all day. But perhaps we should have also informed your table when you ordered alcoholic drinks that they were not complimentary. As you know I am new in town and every day is a learning experience – I apologize again for you being on the wrong end of my learning experience.

In regards to Mr. Dubberly, he did indeed pay his bill. Right after he left he called and apologized profusely and followed up by making it all right. I feel confident that it was indeed a mistake.
