Sexual assault, a subject once whispered about in half words and undertones, now has a beacon shining on it as women have come forward naming some very public figures as the perpetrators, and perhaps for the first time gathering unified support for the victims.

The Trinity Knot: Releasing the Knot of Silence is the first book in a new fiction trilogy by local author DonnaLee Overly, which deals with this timely topic. The twist is that in this saga there is no celebrity or political figure involved. Since the issue is universal, the author captivates the reader with a compelling story that involves the lives and dreams of average people who could live in any town in America.

In the series, Gabriella King is a talented artist, who cannot find her voice during and after being sexually assaulted by the club tennis pro. Living with torment and self- blame, she uses her brush and canvas to paint her anguish and confusion. She finds strength as she begins to gain a deeper understanding of what motivates people to take certain actions and eventually finds her voice.

In The Knot Series Overly gives an emotional voice to issues such as sexual assault, infidelity, abortion, adoption, grief and depression and weaves them into tales of soul searching, heartbreak, courage and love.

DonnaLee Overly

DonnaLee Overly graduated from St Petersburg, FL, College in 1983 with an A.S. in Nursing and she worked as a critical care nurse for 20 years before pursuing a degree in studio art from University of Texas, Austin in 2005. After observing the positive response to her exhibitions that expressed her personal struggles through art and words, DonnaLee created The Knot Series to further her passion of providing people story lines that are engaging and immersive.

“When I write from the heart causing tears to flow, those scenes become the most powerful. In an often superficial world, I believe, readers crave raw emotion and honesty,” Overly says.

Her contemporary fiction novels, The Knot Series, are a trilogy written to give a voice to women’s issues that are often hushed. When DonnaLee is not painting or playing tennis, she’s busy writing. Her second novel in the Knot Series, The Zeppelin Bend is scheduled to be released in fall 2018.

DonnaLee Overly splits her time between Fernandina Beach, FL and Austin, Texas. She is a member of the Florida Writers Association. Visit the author at www.donnaleeoverly.com, or follow her on Facebook @ DonnaLee Overly Author.

Early Praise for Trinity Knot
“…a story about love, trust, redemption and healing, and the challenges contemporary women face…both characters’ needs are knitted through the plot with expertise.”

— Mamta Madhaven, Readers Favorites, 5 stars
“…The Trinity Knot: releasing the knot of silence poses a journey into the core of one woman’s psyche, affected and conflicted by the trauma of sexual assault by someone that she trusted, taking place in a location where she should have felt safe. This story brings to focus this unpleasant scenario and questions, which bear distinct discussion, especially in regard to today’s ongoing headlines concerning sexual assault on women…a well-written and intriguing read that broached the compelling topic of forced seduction with a scenario relevant to current events. The characters were realistically posed and well-developed within a story which easily engaged….it is definitely worth the read, I do recommend it and I look forward to the next in the series.—Bestsellers’ World
