On Thursday, barriers blocking a portion of Lime Street were removed and two way traffic began to flow.  For residents who drive in the area, it was a welcomed relief, and with the addition of sidewalks, a nice benefit for walkers and bikers.

Installing sidewalks in the area was a high priority for those involved in the Roberts Learning and Achievement Center, Boys and Girls Club building project.  It is about providing a safe route for children to reach the facility.  An added benefit is additional sidewalks in the area that make for a safer route for children who attend Southside Elementary School.

On a hot summer morning, walkers and bikers were taking advantage of the safer sidewalk route.  After two long years and multiple delays in the project, the end result is  safer access, and a nice enhancement to the  neighborhood.

And to those nayesayers that said it would never be reopened to two-way traffic. Just watch your speed.
