Friday, April 5th at midnight is the deadline to enter the 11th annual Wild Amelia Nature Photography Contest.

“Great Egret,” by Hal and Kirsten Snyder, was one of the winning images of the 2018 Wild Amelia Nature Photography Contest. This year’s 11th annual contest has an April 5th deadline for entries.

The goal of the contest is to recognize outstanding photography that celebrates the natural landscapes—the wild places—and the wildlife found on Amelia Island. The contest is open to adults and children, beginning and advanced photographers. All entries must be uploaded to the website, www.wildamelia.org by midnight Friday, April 5th.

Cash prizes will be awarded for winning images; those images may be included in the 2020 Wild Amelia Nature Photography calendar as well.

All photographers interested in entering the Photo Contest should review carefully the rules and submission process outlined on the organizations’s website, www.wildamelia.org. A panel of judges will score each photo (with names of photographers removed) and compile the scores to determine the winners.

This year, photos may be entered in four different categories: Birds, Other Fauna (mammals, reptiles, insects, amphibians, etc.), Flora (flowers and plants), and Landscapes.

Photographers may enter as Beginner/Casual Photographers or Advanced Amateur/Professional Photographers. There is also a Children’s contest for children under 10 and from 10-17. There will be a winner in each category and a “Best in Show” Grand Prize Winner.

These winners of the 2019 Wild Amelia Nature Photography Contest will be announced at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Atlantic Avenue Recreation Center during the Wild Amelia Nature Festival Eco-Expo and Silent Auction.

The 13th annual Wild Amelia Nature Festival will be held from Friday May 17 – Sunday, May 19, at venues on and around Amelia Island. In addition to the Photography Contest announcements, there will be exhibits for adults and children, ecotours, music, live animal exhibits, a silent auction, and a sea turtle release at Main Beach.

The 2019 Wild Amelia Nature Festival is just around the corner!
