Artist Susan Henderson
The Island Art Association in downtown Fernandina presents Susan Henderson as the February Artist of the Month. Susan is a Florida painter and Fernandina Beach resident whose work is regularly shown in the Jacksonville Watercolor Society and the Women Painters of the Southeast exhibitions.
In 2014, Susan exhibited in the 24th Annual All-Florida Juried Arts Show in Stuart. Susan paints landscapes and plant material from Florida and the American southwest. The AIA show focuses on recent work from Florida in large format using images familiar to many locals with a different spin. Working in oils Susan captures the unique light and color found in local waterways and plant material. Susan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Ohio State University and has lived and painted in Fernandina since 2006.
The exhibition of Susan Henderson’s recent painting is on display at the Island Art Association at 18 N. 2nd St in Fernandina Beach through February 28. The opening reception is on Saturday February 14 from 5 – 7. Also on exhibit through February at the Island Art Association is the annual juried Nassau County high school art show.
