“Hilliard has always been the best school to me,” commented Commissioner Thomas R. Ford after the BOCC unanimously approved a resolution commending Kristen Musgrove, a teacher at Hilliard Middle-Senior High School, who recently received the Milken Education Award for the 2019/2020 school year.

A life-long resident of Nassau County and a graduate of the University of North Florida, Ms. Musgrove grew up in the Hilliard area and after teaching at Yulee Elementary, she returned to her hometown and now teaches 6th grade math at Hilliard Middle-Senior High.

Musgrove is no stranger to awards for her hard work and dedication, having twice received the Nassau County Golden Apple Award which honors exemplary educators.

The Milken Educator Award was created to reward early-to-mid career education professionals for their achievements and accomplishments to come. While there were 40 recipients of the Milken Educator Award, Musgrove is the only teacher in the State of Florida to be recognized.

Upon accepting the proclamation as presented by Commissioner Danny Leeper, Ms. Musgrove said, “I hope I have a lot of students following in my footsteps to become a teacher.”
