Wednesday’s edition of Folio Weekly (click here to view article) contains a lengthy article on what City Manager Joe Gerrity described in a November 25, 2014, letter to commissioners as “department turmoil” within the City of Fernandina Beach Fire Department. The March 11 cover of Jacksonville’s Folio Weekly pictures former Human Resource Director Robin Marley who was employed by the city for ten years and has filed a lawsuit against the city.
As previously reported by Suanne Z. Thamm, “Marley has sued the City alleging that she was fired in violation of Florida’s Whistleblower Act for reporting and disclosing an act or suspected acts of “gross mismanagement” within the City’s Fire Department to City Manager Joe Gerrity.”
Commissioners, Settle with Ms. Marley out of court. Ask her if she wants her old job back, Make the changes at city hall, and the Fire Dept. Lets move on from this embarrassment. Our city and working firefighters deserve better.
Let the law do it’s thing.
It would seem that this is another embarrassment to the City – and needs to be corrected. Fix the problem!
At this point,as is usual, what is out there is essentially just one side. There is another, there always is.Unfortunately,it will take the lawsuit to bring it all out.
