“Gov. Scott was wrong to cancel judicial election, judge rules”

The process for Governor Rick Scott to appoint a successor to Nassau County’s Circuit Court Judge Robert Foster, is under scrutiny after an objection from  by Attorney David Trotti. According to a lead story in today’s Florida Times Union, by Andrew Pantazi, “The replacement for Nassau County Circuit Judge Robert M. Foster must be chosen by election, a Leon County judge ruled in an injunction Wednesday. The only person who qualified for that election is David Trotti, a local attorney who has tried multiple times to win a judicial seat.”

Scott is appealing the injunction.  At this time, the Judicial Nominating Committee is still scheduled to interview judicial candidates on Monday.
