This week’s employee spotlight is on School Resource Officer Brian Evatt. Brian is a local guy who has been with the FBPD for 14 years and is currently assigned to the Fernandina Beach High School. Brian has also served as a patrol officer and a narcotics investigator. In addition to being the High School’s SRO, Brian also serves as the assistant baseball coach.

Getting to know Brian:

Do you have any hobbies? I enjoy fishing, there is something relaxing about being on the water and at the same time it is a challenge to make the catch.

What is your dream vacation? Back to my hobby – I would love to go fishing in Costa Rica with friends and family.

What is the best part of your job? I really enjoy interacting with the students at the high school. I hope I can be a positive role model for them and provide good advice when needed.

If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would that be? Denzel Washington, I love all his movies and his personal story, where he came from and how he worked to get where his is today.

What is your favorite type of food? I really enjoy authentic Mexican food. My wife is Mexican and everything she cooks is awesome, she learned a lot of amazing recipes and cooking techniques from her mother.
