Fernandina Beach Fire Dept participates in 49th Anniversary of Thiokol explosion

City Commissioners and the Fernandina Beach Fire Department were honored to attend the 49th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony of the Thiokol chemical plant explosion. The City of Fernandina Beach Fire Department played a key response role that day, February 3, 1971. The touching memorial was organized by the Thiokol Memorial Project, and paid tribute to the lives lost, as well as to the first responders, volunteers, and family members.
