During a Special Meeting that lasted 3 minutes and 24 seconds from gavel to gavel, the Fernandina Beach City Commission (FBCC) discharged its legal obligation by holding a public hearing on the proposed millage rate and budget for FY 2016/17. The handful of people in attendance had no comment on either topic, both of which had been discussed in detail during previous FBCC meetings and workshops during the summer. City Manager Dale Martin read the Truth In Millage (TRIM) statement as required by law:
With no public comments on either the TRIM statement or the proposed budget, commissioners approved both unanimously with no discussion on first reading. The final public reading will call for adoption by resolution on September 20, 2016.
