Vicki P. Cannon, Nassau County Supervisor of Elections, announces the opportunity for local college students to apply for (3) three $1,200 scholarships through the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE). The deadline to submit an application to the Nassau County Supervisor of Elections is March 14, 2016. Three scholarships will be awarded this summer.

The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student enrolled or accepted to senior college of university in Florida. No postgraduate or second-degree students. Applicants must:

  • Be either a Political Science/Public or Business Administration or Journalism/Mass Communication major.
  • Be a U.S. citizen and a Florida resident for two years preceding the academic year for which an application is made.
  • Have finished two years of junior college of undergraduate work (enough credits for enrollment as a junior).
  • Have maintained a “C” average, or above, for the previous academic year.
  • Be a registered voter in Nassau County.
  • Be available for a personal interview by the Nassau County Supervisor of Elections.

Applicants must provide the following to the Nassau County Supervisor of Elections office on or before March 14, 2016:

  • Application form.
  • A financial statement that indicates their personal contribution to their educational expenses and demonstrates a financial need.
  • Two current letters of recommendation: one from the college or university last attended or graduated from; and one from a citizen of good standing in the community.
  • A resume of their high school and/or college activities, as well as their community service activities

Students may obtain applications online at www.votenassau.com or from the Nassau County Supervisor of Elections Office at 96135 Nassau Place, Suite 3, Yulee, Florida 32097. Students must submit completed applications and letters of recommendation to the Supervisor of Elections of the county in which they are registered to vote.
All Nassau County applications will be reviewed by the Supervisor of Elections and one finalist will be forwarded to the FSASE Scholarship Committee to represent Nassau County. The FSASE Scholarship Committee will select three winners to be awarded $1,200 scholarships from finalists submitted by Supervisors of Elections throughout the State of Florida.
