Council on Aging SeniorExpo and Health Fair Back for Fifth Year

For the fifth year in a row, the Nassau County Council on Aging and Baptist Health have teamed up for the much anticipated Senior Expo and Health Fair. The event will take place on Friday, August 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Atlantic Avenue Rec Center, 2500 Atlantic Avenue.

The SeniorExpo is FREE and open to the public.This year, more than 60 exhibitors will be on hand to provide information of value not just to senior citizens, but to caregivers and anyone interested in learning more about living a healthier lifestyle.

Representatives of federal, state and local agencies from the Social Security
Administration to Nassau County Emergency Management, as well as many more organizations and businesses, will be available to answer questions, provide assistance and offer guidelines for better health management. Health screening tests provided by Baptist Health, and hearing tests given by Jacksonville Speech and Hearing Center, will be available free of charge. New this year will be skin cancer screening as well as strength and balance testing, and One Blood will hold a blood drive. Go to www.oneblood.org to preregister to give blood or call904.261.0701.

Rec Center parking could be tight, so overflow parking will be available at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the Women’s Club with shuttle service provided to the Rec Center. NassauTRANSIT’s Island Hopper bus service will be FREE that day and will make regular stops at the event.
