More than 125 Americans overdose and die from opioids daily. The national emergency is growing. According to the national health institutions, if left unchecked, more than 500,000 Americans will die annually from opioid overdoses.

To address the local problem, the Nassau Alcohol Crime Drug Abatement Coalition (NACDAC) will present Community Opioid Awareness training courses at several sites throughout Nassau and Camden counties. The two-hour courses are free and open to the public.

  • Topics that will be covered in the training are:
  • How Opioids Work and Affect the Body
  • Signs and Symptoms of Opioid Overdose
  • Reversing Opioid overdoses
  • Supporting the Overdose Patient.

Those who attend and successfully complete the training will be issued Emergency Naloxone (Narcan) opioid treatment kits.

Trainings are currently scheduled for:Fernandina Beach Police Department Community Room: Saturday, September 9, 2017 10:00-12:00
Coastal Community Behavioral Health (Camden County, Georgia): Tuesday, September 12, 2017 6:00-8:00 Callahan County Building: Wednesday, September 13, 2017 6:00-8:00.
