City of Fernandina Beach Fire Rescue personnel promoted

On September 25, Fernandina Beach Fire/Rescue Chief Ty Silcox presided over the Fire/Rescue Pinning Ceremony to honor five individuals who received promotions. Promoted to the rank of Captain was Bradley Richardson, Marcus Carter to Lieutenant, and Christopher French, Daniel Hulett, and James Tucker were promoted to Engineer.

Prior to the pinning, Silcox said, “Firefighting is the world’s most honored and dangerous occupation. When there is an emergency in the community fire fighters are first on the scene. Fire fighters are there for devastating fires, vehicle accidents, hurricanes, hazardous material incidents, special rescue operations, emergency medical calls, and many other critical incidents. They are there to prevent human suffering and death. They are there to save lives and to prevent damages and property loss.”

The fire fighters stood in front of a stage adorned with historic Fernandina Fire Department memorabilia, the oldest being a brass “call horn.” Circa 1880’s.

Christopher D. French, began his employment in March 2009. He served as a Fire Fighter EMT prior to his promotion to Engineer.

Daniel J. Hulett has been with the Fernandina Beach Fire Department since April 2010. He has served as a Fire Fighter Paramedic, Lead Paramedic, prior to his promotion to Engineer.

James M. Tucker began serving in May 2011. He has served as a Fire Fighter Paramedic, Lead Paramedic prior to his promotion to Engineer.

Marcus O. Carter is a third generation fire fighter was pinned by his father, retired Captain Hot Shot Carter. He began his service in December of 2009. Prior to his promotion to Lieutenant, he has served as an Engineer, and Fire Fighter Paramedic.

Bradley S. Richardson began his service in February of 2004. He served as a Fire Fighter Paramedic, Engineer, and Lieutenant prior to being promoted to Captain.

Congrats to all those promoted and thanks to all in the Fire Rescue department for their service to the City – both residents, Islanders and visitors.
