An early breakfast at Ops started our annual Saturday trip to the grocery store. They are now serving breakfast until 3 p.m. daily. Our breakfast of French Toast and Eggs Benedict was fabulous and the coffee is strong and good. Wow, who would have thought that?

Ops 1

After early morning showers promising to ruin our day, we did our grocery shopping. Always eat before you shop. However, by noon the beach was the place to be. The beaches were full.

Ops 2

Meantime the Habitat for Humanity home on South 10th Street looked like the normal volunteer workforce had quit early due to the heat, or were waiting for other work to be completed.

Ops 3

Downtown, the previous Books Plus store had signs up for the Cinnamon Bear Country Store to be opening soon. This store has branches in Hilton Head and Savannah and should be a nice addition to downtown. Books Plus continues their business with a new Used Books section on its new location on South 8th Street near Nassau Diamonds.

Tourists were busy on Centre Street and The Nested Turtle has been open at 25 South Third Street since May 1st. Owners Lisa Dockery and Kevin Cornett had made appearances at the local farmer’s market and now have a permanent location. They are specializing in custom made stationery and note cards by Lisa and woodworking specialties and furniture in the future by Kevin. Meanwhile, there are some great gifts and fun itmes.

Ops 4

Had to stop by Fifi’s, celebrating their 10th anniversary with a special luau party. Who should appear to help them celebrate besides the many customers looking for bargains, but Fifi Queen, who joined owner Jessica Miller for a picture.

Ops 7

All in all, it was another picture perfect Chamber of Commerce day in Fernandina Beach.
