Zach Williams will be on hand to officially open the Amelia Comics and Games in Fernandina Beach on Friday, November 25.

Zachary Williams has collected comic books for years and now the self-described comic book fanatic plans to sell some of his collection along with weekly new inventory in his new store, Amelia Comics and Games, officially opening in Fernandina Beach Friday, November 25.

“I’ve loved comic books all my life and collected them since I was in school here in Fernandina Beach, so naturally, they’re a huge influence on my life,” said Williams.

“I love the stories, the characters and the artwork. I love every aspect of comic books, and I’m thrilled I can share my passion for this fantastic storytelling art form with other fans.”

His store, Amelia Comics and Games, will carry comics and graphic novels, along with other comic book paraphernalia, t-shirts, role-playing and other table top games in the 1200-square-foot storefront at 1897 Island Walkway, Suite 6, Fernandina Beach, FL.

Amelia Comics and Games will be open six days a week (Tuesday through Sunday, closed Monday), and will have extended hours on Friday and Saturday to provide fans of popular board and card games a space to play and interact with one another.

Wednesday is an important day in the world of comics because it is the release day for each week’s new issues, Williams said. Regular comic lovers can create a “pull
list,” which is an in-store subscription and customer loyalty program so they never miss a new issue of their favorite comic.

Williams added that his focus will be on keeping his business local, and he has no plans to open an online business. Amelia Comics and Games is the only shop of its
kind within Nassau County and within a 40 mile radius of Fernandina.

Locally owned and managed comic shops have enjoyed a period of economic growth for several years now, in part as a result of the massive popularity of comics- and
graphic novel-based movies and television series such as The Avengers and The Walking Dead, Williams said.

Already open, Amelia Comics and Games will have a ceremonial grand opening party on Black Friday, November 25. Wear your PJs downtown and then stop by the shop to take
advantage of the Grand Opening specials and try out one of the new games. Gift Certificates are always available for your favorite comic lovers.
