Actors Night Out will be at 7 p.m. on November 4 in the Amelia Community Theatre main stage lobby at 207 Cedar Street. This event is open to anyone interested in auditioning at the theatre, and is an opportunity to learn about the audition process, meet the directors, and hear about the plot and cast needs for eight different productions. Actors Night Out is a casual event, where scenes from the eight plays are read for fun. There is no charge or need to make a reservation. Light refreshments are served, and there is a cash beverage bar.

Auditions for the studio comedy/drama Expecting Isabel are at 2 p.m. on November 9 at 209 Cedar Street. It’s directed by Gary Morgan, with performances between January 10-18, 2020. Five women and four men, with ages between 18-70, are needed for the cast.

This play by Lisa Loomer tells the story of a married couple, Miranda and Nick, who are ready to have a baby, but discover that conceiving a child isn’t always easy. Their desire for a child leads them to investigate fertility treatments and adoption procedures, while also dealing with family opinions, and the inevitable frustrations that come with this sensitive situation. Seven of the actors needed will each play a variety of roles, such as family members, medical staff, pregnant women, and counselors, all of whom Miranda and Nick come into contact with on their journey for a child. The show is rated R for adult language and situations.

Auditions for the main stage comedic drama The Humans are at 2 p.m. on November 16 at 207 Cedar Street. This Tony-Award winning play by Stephen Karam will be directed by Ron Kurtz, with performances between January 31- February 15.

Two men and four women, representing three generations of a family, are needed for the cast. The play begins as parents Erik and Deirdre, along with Erik’s disabled mother Momo, arrive in New York to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with adult daughters Aimee and Brigid and Brigid’s boyfriend Richard.

Characters range in ages from the 20s-late 30s for the youngest generation to the 60s for the parents, and late 70s-80s for Momo. In this moving and humorous story about need and love, family secrets are exposed and eerie things go bump in the night. The show is rated PG-13.

Auditions are open to all at ACT, and newcomers are encouraged to tryout. At auditions, scenes are read from a show’s script in a closed audition room with the play’s director and staff. Scripts may be checked out from the ACT box office which is open from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
