For the second straight year, over 60 Nassau County Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students qualified to move on to state level competitions after winning numerous events at the district competition. The district consists of chapters from Baker, Duval, and Nassau counties. The state competition will be held in Orlando March 16 – 19th.

Improving on last year’s record, 35 Nassau County students took first place in individual events, and 7 teams made up of 2-3 student won team events. Another 29 Nassau students garnered 2nd place finishes.

“It’s great to have another successful district competition in the books,” said FBLA District 4 Director and West Nassau High School Advisor, Joyce Finley. “Last year Nassau County had its best year ever at both the district and the state competitions. We had a few more individual winners at district this year, so hopefully this trend will continue.”

Stephanie Landtroop, Fernandina Beach High School’s sponsor added, “It has been nice to see students take initiative into building their own leadership skills. Their hard work and dedication is paying off.”

In addition to Finley and Landtroop, the Nassau County School District’s FBLA advisors are as follows: Michele Stamps (Hilliard Middle/Senior High), Brian Simmons (West Nassau High Co-Advisor), Jennifer Reynolds and Patrick Schinella (Yulee Middle) and Nicol Stewart (Yulee High).
