Editor’s Note: Since our volunteer staff wishes to enjoy time with family and friends over the holidays, we will take a break from our normal daily publications. December 22 will be our last day of posting for this year. We will be up and running again on January 2, 2020. Our best wishes to all of our readers, and supporters for a happy holiday season. Editor’s Note: We originally posted Michael Leary’s photo in 2016 and it remains one of our favorites. Michael grew up in Fernandina back in the days when the island was sparsely populated. As a young boy, he delighted in exploring the woods and waterways of Amelia. His deep appreciation of the island’s natural beauty is reflected in his interest in preservation of our natural environment. We thank Michael for his contribution to the Fernandina Observer.
