Nassau County Schools
Dr. Kathy Burns
Superintendent of Schools
April 10, 2020

At this evening’s school board meeting [April 9], the Nassau County School Board took action to approve the following new leadership appointments for the 2020-2021 school year.

Melissa Johnson named principal of Callahan Elementary School.

Melissa Johnson – Principal of Callahan Elementary School to replace Ms. Sabrina Faircloth who is retiring at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

Melissa Johnson is eager to begin another exciting school year at Callahan Elementary. Mrs. Johnson has accepted the position of Principal at CES for the 2020-2021 school year. She is looking forward to continuing her work with students, staff, and the community.

Ms. Johnson walked the halls of Callahan Elementary School thirty-one years ago as a Kindergarten student and little did she know what the school would mean to her and how much a part of her life it would become. As a student at CES, the school lit a passion for education and laid the foundation of her life’s journey. She began her teaching career in 2007 at Hilliard Elementary where she taught 4th grade for 10 years. During this time, Melissa Johnson received a master’s degree in educational leadership from Saint Leo University. In 2017, Mrs. Johnson accepted a position at Callahan Elementary School as the Assistant Principal. While at CES, she was awarded Nassau County School Board’s Assistant Principal of the year for 2020.

Having the opportunity to work at the same school she attended as a child shows Little Warriors can be successful. She feels honored to give back to a community that ignited the fire that drives her passion for leading and educating others. As Mrs. Johnson works with the students at CES, it has made her more aware of how important it is to inspire children to make the world a better place by leading and supporting those around her. Once a WARRIOR always a WARRIOR!

Kristy Collins – Assistant Principal of Callahan Elementary School

Kristy Collins

Kristy Collins is looking forward to starting a new adventure at Callahan Elementary School as the Assistant Principal for the 20202021 school year. Her experience working with students in grades Kindergarten through 8th has prepared her for this position. Mrs. Collins started her teaching career in Nassau County in 2010 where she taught 5th grade at Yulee Elementary School. After receiving her master’s degree in educational leadership, she discovered her passion for working with teachers. Mrs. Collins served as the Reading Coach at Hilliard Middle Senior High-School and Wildlight Elementary School. She is excited to be a part of the Callahan community and looks forward to working with teachers, students, and stakeholders.

Danielle Loudermilk – Principal of Hilliard Elementary School.

Danielle Loudermilk – Principal of Hilliard Elementary School to replace Ms. LeeAnn Jackson who will be retiring at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

Mrs. Danielle Loudermilk has always been passionate about making a difference in the life of a child. Recognizing the power a quality education provides for children is what led her to this profession. She attended the University of Central Florida where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. After graduation, Mrs. Loudermilk began her teaching career at Callahan Intermediate School in 2006. She was a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teacher in the eleven years she worked at CIS. During this time, her passion for curriculum and leadership grew. In 2011 she obtained her master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of North Florida. In
January of 2017, Mrs. Loudermilk accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Yulee Elementary School, where she attended school as a child. As an administrator, Mrs. Loudermilk recognized the importance of building positive relationships with students and staff while providing innovative curriculum to maximize student achievement. She is a believer that with a positive work ethic, collaboration, and a consistent support system there is no limit to what a school can accomplish. Mrs. Loudermilk has relished her time as a Yulee Elementary Hornet but is ecstatic about beginning the 2020-2021 school year as the Principal of Hilliard Elementary. She cannot wait to work collaboratively with teachers, students, parents, and all other stakeholders to ensure the continued success of Hilliard Elementary School.
