The City of Fernandina Beach Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has been hard at work creating an all-encompassing survey regarding the parks, open spaces, and recreation facilities within the City limits.

In 2015, with State funding assistance, the City retained a consultant to prepare a Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Hundreds of people, both residents and non-residents, responded to surveys and participated in a series of public meetings to develop the foundation for the Master Plan. While it is obvious that significant resources, efforts, and thought contributed to the development of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, many of the recommendations were difficult to implement.

The current Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee has recognized many of the shortcomings, contradictions, and failures of the 2015 plan and a renewed effort to re-envision City parks and recreation has begun: an “Assessment and Action Plan.”

The Parks and Recreation staff and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is inviting you to be part of the assessment process, and wants your input into the creation of a Parks and Recreation program that further meets the needs of our City’s residents.

Please take the time to answer the survey located at this link: https://forms.gle/bLXbMCWtZdN2pP6G6. The link can also be found on the City website, both on the homepage and on the Parks and Recreation page. The Board looks forward to hearing from its City residents.

Thank you for your help in creating a better experience for the community!
