Ocean Highway and Port Authority Chair Adam Salzburg (Dist. 3) presented Fernandina Beach Mayor John Miller with a $50,000 check at the July 3, 2018 Fernandina Beach City Commission (FBCC) meeting.

Fernandina Beach Mayor John Miller (r) receives annual PILOT check from OHPA Chair Adam Salzburg.

“It’s that time of year you all love to see us,” Salzburg said, as he addressed the FBCC.

Each year OHPA presents the city with a check during July in the amount of $50,000 or more (depending on port revenues).  This is referred to as the PILOT check (Payment In Lieu Of Taxes).

Salzburg also informed the FBCC, “We are also bringing up the Army Corps of Engineers 408 permit process at our next meeting, and I don’t see a problem with that.  I think it will be a good process to move forward to help you out with the marina.”
