Fernandina Beach Police Chief Jim Hurley and Fernandina Beach Fire Chief Ty Silcox awarded $1,000 scholarships to FBHS seniors Lauren Walker and Samantha Malagliati at the FBHS Awards Ceremony on May 1.  The scholarships awarded are part of Beyond the Badge, a new program recently organized by the local police and fire departments, under the Fernandina Beach Police Foundation.   Funding for future scholarships will be raised by proceeds from a slightly competitive basketball game between the FBPD and FBFD on July 20 at the FBHS gym.
