More About “The Legend of Peer Gynt”
Edvard Grieg’s music inspires a concert presentation of dance and live art. Grieg’s, most popular work, was composed for Henrik Ibsen’s Norwegian allegorical play in 1875. Today, it is considered to be one of the best examples of beautiful melodic “picture painting.” Children of all ages will especially enjoy two of its best-known movements: “Morning” and “In the Hall of the Mountain King.”
The performance features two dancers from the Amelia Island Dance Festival, Reese Vonnoh and Zoe Gilsenan who will perform an interpretative dance to the music. Artist Andrea Jones from Lauren Templeton’s Amelia Art Studio will be on site creating a painting in real time inspired by Grieg’s music. Julie Coucheron narrates the story while musicians Elizabeth Pridgen, piano, and David Coucheron, violinist, provide the Inspiration for the dancers and artists.
