Story & Song
Press Release
September 20, 2019

On Saturday, September 21 from 2-4 pm at Story & Song Bookstore Bistro, the Baha’i Community of Nassau County will host a documentary film screening of “Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequity,” followed by a community conversation.

The film by Shakti Butler asks America to talk about the causes and consequences of systemic racial inequity. The film features moving stories from racial justice leaders including Amer Ahmed, Michael Benitez, Barbie-Danielle DeCarlo, Joy DeGruy, Ericka Huggins, Humaira Jackson, Yuko Kodama, Peggy McIntosh, Rinku Sen, Tilman Smith and Tim Wise. Film segments are braided with facilitated dialogue, allowing us to process the emotional impact. The goal is for participants to learn how to ask new questions and be inspired to engage in change.

Community conversations will continue on the following two Saturdays, 9/28 and 10/5, from 1 to 3 pm. For more information, contact Henry at (904) 502-5837. There is no charge to attend, and all are welcome. Story & Song Bookstore is located at 1430 Park Ave. (14th St. entrance to Amelia Park).
