The Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise raises funds for the Barnabas Meal Pack Program

660 Live lobsters were flown in from Main for this unique culinary experience. The Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise set-up a drive-up area at the West Side parking lot of Central Park where lobsters could be picked up from 1 to 6pm. Lobsters were available either live or cooked. Many of the walk-ups who did not order online had to be turned away. The general feedback was that these were the best lobsters, and many cannot wait to participate in the next event, which is tentatively scheduled before the Florida/Georgia game in 2021. The president of the club, John Kublbock said, “we did not anticipate this inaugural event to be such a success. We got a lot of positive feedback”.

The proceeds from this event benefit the Barnabas Meal Program which provides nourishment to students enrolled in the Nassau County School system’s Families in Transition Program. Meal Packs are distributed each week to approximately 80+ hungry children in Hilliard, Callahan and Bryceville elementary schools.

The Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise conducts hybrid meetings every Friday from 7:30 to 8:30 am at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club, and via zoom. For more information visit the club’s website: www.AmeliaIslandRotary.com
