In a ceremony held recently in Gainesville, Florida, the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation presented the Carl Weinhardt Award to Arthur Ivan “Buddy” Jacobs, a founding member of Jacobs Scholz & Associates, LLC in Fernandina Beach, Florida. He received the award “recognizing his many achievements and leadership in state historic preservation arenas and his valuable service to the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation.”

Jacobs was also the 2010 recipient of the University of Florida’s Beineke-Reeves Distinguished Achievement Award in Historic Preservation “in celebration of his indisputable evidence of advocacy and support for historic preservation in Florida and throughout the United States.”

During the 1970’s , Jacobs was a key figure in securing funding  for the revitalization of Centre Street Fernandina.  His efforts helped transform Fernandina’s downtown into what is now a nationally recognized historic district.
