Learning Your Options for Aging in Place

Posted

The newly formed Nassau Senior Advocacy Team will present a free forum for county residents on resources and strategies for aging in your own home. The forum will be held on Oct. 2, from 9-11 a.m., at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club, 2800 Bill Melton Rd., Fernandina Beach.

The forum will include presentations from a variety of resource providers in the region that focus on meeting the needs of seniors. Partners include: Amelia’s Best Care For Seniors, Brooks Rehabilitation, Caring Transitions, Compassion & Utmost Respect for the Aging (CURA), Partners Capital, Advance Rehabilitation, Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital, By Your Side Senior Care, Oasis Senior Advisors, Compass Group Insurance and Clarity Professional Hearing Aid Center.

“Seniors and their caregivers will learn what is available to help them age in place gracefully,” says Adrienne Talbert, a senior living advisor with Oasis Senior Advisors. “You need someone to explain it to you. It’s so important, because knowledge is power.”

Too often, Talbert says, people don’t spend enough time planning for their later years.

“A lot of individuals have no idea what is available to them, and then they try to find help when there is a crisis,” she says. “That’s when they ask for help. They often don’t know where to go for help.”

The forum is free and includes breakfast. Registration is not required but is requested. RSVP to Adrienne Talbert at [email protected].
