EVENT: Gather ye Old Souls for Short readings related to
“All Saints Day”
DATE: October 25, 2017
TIME: 6:00-8:00pm
LOCATION: 223 S. 3th St, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034
This month instead of one presenter we hope to have many as we encourage you, our local writers, to add your voice to exciting October event. Open that creaky treasure chest of a mind, pull out a short piece that you love, dust it off, and bring it in to share with our friendly group of writers. Your appropriately themed poem or short story or a brief work written by your fa-vorite old-soul will make a difference in helping us celebrate “All Saints Day” in style.
WHAT TO DO?
Dress as your favorite old soul, or as yourself, and upon arrival, if you’d like to read just sign up. Your fee is a plate of cookies or other finger food to add to our larder. We will provide the coffee. Readers will have up to five minutes to express their treasured work. and each is encouraged to time their readings at home (prior to the event), to make sure each is 5 minutes or less. Once everyone has had a chance to read, each is welcome to have another go at it, as time al-lows.
ABOUT WRITERS BY THE SEA aka HOW YOU CAN HELP:
As we at the Amelia Island Chapter of the Florida Writers Association (aka Writers by the Sea), move into our 6th year of providing heart-felt monthly support to our local writers, we will be exploring creative ways to keep up with changes in the field of writing and publishing. After producing over 60 monthly presentations (yes, over 60 of them!), and various small group experiences, it’s time we give our fearless leader, Dr. Nadine Vaughan D’Ardenne, some well deserved time-off to focus on her own writing. So our Executive Committee is on the look-out for a few good people (you?) who might be interested in making this group your own. During our time together, we have developed small groups that cater to all levels of experience, from newly published authors to multiple producers. Even though our work at Writers by the Sea is a labor of love, we strive to support professionalism in our writers and friendship in our relation-ships. Please join us October 25, 2018, meet your new best friends, and find your writing home.
