Editor’s Note: Many of our readers have expressed curiosity about the new Wildlight community, located along A1A east of I-95. Although in its early stages of development, there is much activity already underway. The video below, entitled “A New Community Fuels Economic Development,” provides a good overview and background on the community, which has been designed from the ground up to provide the essential services and infrastructure businesses rely on.

For those interested in following the development and unfolding of this new Nassau County community, we refer you to their blog http://wildlight.com

One of the the big selling points was the “regional park” that was to include soccer fields, lights and was to be staffed and maintained by Wildlight. As I understand it when the county held firm that the local taxpayers were not going to pay to maintain the regional park or maintain it, it was removed from the drawing board. Senator Aaron Bean is owed big time for his help in winning the seats needed to pass the county vote 3-2 and then getting the other political support from the schools needed for the no interest taxpayer funded $4 million road to a school that cost twice what state statutes says should be spent on a elementary school. Wildlight should be providing Mr. Bean with his next big opportunity, after all he created it and without him, this massive development would not have happened. In the bill that created the “special district” or government last year with the help of Rep Byrd they have granted themselves sovereign immunity, control over water and they will determine to a great degree the “winners and losers” by selecting who gets to play in their new market place. This will reshape Nassau County for certain, for good or ill, it will forever alert the environment, the traffic and the very nature of the community people have called home for generations. The corporate titans who control the board of directors that now run Wildlight are based in Boca Raton I am told and have not located to Nassau, lets hope the sweet, musical medley they have playing works out just they way they have scripted it, we are all in the same boat and as much as I disagreed with how they went about it or how it will affect the community, we now have to live with the decisions that have been imposed upon us. Good luck.
