Wildlight Elementary School blazing a new trail

School Superintendent Kathy Burns welcomes audience to Wildlight school dedication.

Saturday, August 26, 2017, marked the blazing of a new trail for Nassau County elementary students. Wildlight Elementary School, home of the Trailblazers, held the ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the new school. Community members, business partners, cheerleaders, Yulee High School band members, teachers, and families were in attendance to celebrate this event. Dr. John Ruis, former Superintendent of Schools, was on hand to share a few words and assist in the ribbon cutting ceremony. Dr. Ruis laid the ground work and spent his final days in office ensuring the beginning of this construction project. Mr. Kevin Burnette, Director of Facilities spent a few minutes thanking his team for their tireless efforts ensuring a successful completion of the project. Rayonier employees presented a check to the Nassau Education Foundation for STEM projects at Wildlight as well as two other elementary schools. Wildlight Elementary School is a prek-5th grade school with over 600 students already attending.
