Illegal communications, such as Robocalls, Spoofed Caller ID and Fraudulent Calls are a nationwide problem. Floridians can protect themselves from invasive unsolicited calls by following a few simple tips.
- Contact your Service Provider and check to see if they offer Call Blocking technology.
- Report Unsolicited Communications at FloridaConsumerHelp.com.
- Aid Industry Call-Blocking Solutions by filing complaints that are shared with telecommunications carriers and other industry partners: FTC.gov/ news-events/ press-releases/ 2017/ 08/ ftc-escalates-fight-against-illegal-robocalls-using-consumer.
- Be Aware of the Latest Scam Alerts:Consumer.FTC.gov/ features/ scam-alerts.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is the state’s clearinghouse for consumer complaints, protection, and information. Consumers who believe fraud has taken place can contact the department’s consumer protection and information hotline by calling 1-800-HELP-FLA(435-7352) or, for Spanish speakers, 1-800-FL-AYUDA (352-9832) or online at FloridaConsumerHelp.com.
