Burlingame 1The press and hospitality venues were invited to an Open House this week. My Roving Reporter/Photographer husband, Tom, and I were present for a wonderful display of food and wine at the new restaurant at 20 South 5th Street.

Burlingame
Deb and Eric Fanelli

First, we were greeted personally by the owners Deb and Eric Fanelli and given a tour of the various rooms available for dining: including a cozy front room, a glass room, outside patio/bar dining area and an inside bar/dining area. The décor was bright and inviting with many large color coordinated pictures and modern table settings. Deb had a clear picture of the bright , modern warm look she envisioned.

The strawberry gazpacho, Mayport shrimp and grits, pork and savory pancake, and duck prosciutto with mushroom risotto were only a few of the offerings on a very varied and different menu. See their website at Burlingamerestaurant.com for their menu, which will change seasonally. Chef Chad Livingston is no stranger to the area, having met Eric at a series of cooking schools at the Salt Restaurant at the Ritz.

Burlingame 4

“The vision for Burlingame is simple: great food from fresh ingredients and unobtrusive service in a comfortable and relaxed environment.” Michael Wade at the bar was pouring a lovely variety of wines at the bar and introduced us to a dry rose’ from South America along with several others we had not enjoyed before. Of course, beers are available as well, and the owners mentioned that the last seating is at 9:30 p.m. There have been customers seeking an after dinner drink and snacks at the bar as well.

Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. and watch for Sunday brunch to start April 17th.

P.S.
Lunch at the Ritz

RitzFriends and I celebrated a birthday lunch at the newly remodeled Ritz Cafe’ Coast. The new look is cool, blue and modern and open to the patio and outside dining. The menu is new and our pastrami sandwich, swordfish and lobster roll were all appreciated. Birthday dessert was perfect. This is a good place for breakfast and lunch, but we have not had dinner there in years.
