At the Special Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners called on December 4th, 2019 at 4PM, County Attorney/County Manager Michael Mullin responded to Commission Chair Justin Taylor’s inquiry as to the status of succession planning for high ranking County officials – i.e. County Attorney and County Manager.
The announcement, delivered with no pomp or circumstance, would be that Mr. Taco Pope, currently Assistant County Manager would assume the role of County Manager in August of 2020. Mullin stated that he has “learned more from Taco, than he has learned from me,” while making the announcement. He went on to state that they would begin a search for an Assistant County Attorney and that relationship could begin perhaps on a contract basis leading into full-time employment.
Editor’s Note: Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, Cindy received her BA in Political Science from Dickinson College. Upon graduation, Cindy began her career on Capitol Hill working as a legislative aide and director. She later became a part of the public relations and lobbying team of the American Iron and Steel Institute and served as director of the office of state legislative affairs for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Cindy was involved in economic development with the state of Maryland, and served as executive director of Leadership Washington County. As a community volunteer, Cindy participates in numerous volunteer activities serving as a member of Sunrise Rotary, and as board member of Cummer Amelia Board of Directors.
