Some Enchanted Evening…join us at AMP as we open the Broadway classic, South Pacific on November 1. This Rogers and Hammerstein musical premiered 70 years ago and won 10 Tonys and Pulitzer prize, film versions followed in 1958 and 2001, and multiple revivals and tours have been seen all over the world.

The plot is based on the James Michener book, Tales of the South Pacific, many of which are based on true stories. It’s popularity has been credited to the memorable score and the confrontation of racism. This has also made it an ever-popular show for community theatres and high schools. Familiar songs are included such as Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair, Nothing Like Dame, In Love With a Wonderful Guy, and many more that you will recognize.

Our cast is, in AMP tradition, made up of our AMP regulars and faces new to our stage. Ozzie Medina stars as Emile DeBecque, Heather Kimsey makes her AMP debut as Nellie, and shares the role with Kailin Friedrich. Arthur Herman not only brings comedy with he interpretation of Luther Billis, but also painted much of the lush sets, with Jeff Groden Thomas. Ernestine Hall as Bloody Mary will give you goosebumps when she sings Bali Ha’i.

The musical also features a 12 piece orchestra under the direction of Susan Raab, and the entire production has been costumed beautifully by Donna lewis.

Show dates are November 1,2,3,8,9,10 at 7:30 pm, and 11/4 & 11 at 2:30 pm. Call 904-277-3455 or go to ameliamusicalplayhouse.com. This show is family friendly, and has been sponsored (and photographed) by Steve and JoAnn Leimburg
