The Nassau County School Board has voted unanimously to hire Ray Poole for the position  of Chief of Legal Services.

Ray Poole has worked with the Nassau County School District for the past 10 years through the firm Constancy, Brooks, Smith & Prophet, LLP on a fee basis to provide legal services in the areas of: lawsuits filed against the Nassau County School Board, employee termination proceedings, arbitrations, and other labor related issues. As the school district grows, the need for legal services continues to increase. Mr. Poole is only 1 of 51 attorneys in the State of Florida certified in Education Law. He is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Labor and Employment Law. He is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and has been voted among the “best lawyers in America” for multiple years. He is an officer in the Florida Bar’s Labor and Employment Law Section. Mr. Poole’s qualifications as well as his years of experience working with the Nassau County School District makes him an excellent choice for this position.

An in-house Chief of Legal Services will eliminate the need for most outside legal services. The position of Assistant Superintendent of Instruction was recently vacated, and the duties of that position will be absorbed through distribution of duties. As a result, personnel expenses for the school district will decrease while acquiring daily legal support.

Hopefully Ray Poole can help the school district reduce the growing legal costs and get control over poorly formed legal decisions being made around contract law and other decisions. Ray Poole is a good man!
