Residential Structure Fire – 915 Division Street

At 12:06 AM on August 4th, 2019, units from the Fernandina Beach Fire Department and Nassau County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire at 915 Division Street. The 911 call was received from nearby residents, reporting that half of the house was on fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found the entire backside of the house engulfed in flames and that the structure was unoccupied.

Firefighters were unable to enter the structure due to heavy fire conditions and began a defensive attack quickly bringing the fire under control within 14 minutes of arriving on scene. A total of eighteen firefighters battled the flames until 1:12 AM, when the fire was determined to be out. Fire damage to the structure was heavy and estimated to be a total loss.

There were no occupants in the structure at the time of the fire; no resulting civilian or firefighter injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire did not appear to be suspicious in nature but due to the heavy fire damage, the origin of the fire is unknown in nature and is currently under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office.
